Il Duomo
Il Duomo di Caorle, che si affaccia su Piazza Vescovado, è l’edificio più antico (risale al 1038) e importante della città ed è dedicato a Santo Stefano Protomartire. È in stile romanico con elementi bizantini e contiene infiniti tesori: un’ara funeraria romana del I sec. d. C. (l’ara Licovia, alla base del tabernacolo); la Pala d’Oro del XIII - XIV secolo dietro l’altare maggiore (capolavoro di oreficeria veneziana che presenta elementi stilistici di influsso bizantino); un crocifisso ligneo del XV secolo. E poi ancora l’affresco di San Cristoforo (del XV sec.), un fonte battesimale del 1587 e suggestive tele di scuola veneziana del XVI-XVII secolo!
Il Duomo è visitabile tutti i giorni in orario diurno eccetto durante le celebrazioni religiose (in estate fino alle 23; per info Parrocchia S. Stefano +39 0421 81028).
Adiacente al Duomo si trova il Museo Liturgico che davvero vale una visita!
Il Campanile
È il simbolo di Caorle ed è uno dei pochi campanili cilindrici originali rimasti. Il nostro risale all’XI secolo, è alto 48 metri e pende leggermente verso est.
È stato recentemente ristrutturato ed è visitabile su prenotazione; in estate anche la sera si può godere dei suggestivi scorci notturni che Caorle offre quando tramonta il sole. Basta salire gli 80 gradini per spaziare con lo sguardo dal mare alla laguna! (per info contattare la Sig.ra PIA ZOIA tel. +39 3487743459)
